HHI Airport_ Turks & Caicos

Finding a symbiosis between the beautiful natural surrounding environment of Turks & Caicos, the island’s local charm & culture, blended with a progressive high-tech, high-functioning airport was a fantastic challenge.

Our commission was to design a contemporary image for a new gateway airport & an ultimate paradise getaway destination airport for international travel. High quality finishes and furniture provide a seamless & sophisticated aesthetic whilst the texture and detailing reflect the local vernacular.

 The concept vision needed to ensure that it supported both the operational and material robustness required, blending both contemporary materiality with textural & more craft-based finishes and acting as a backdrop to the islands’ culture and colour. The interiors needed to offer a little slice of tranquil island life’ whilst appealing to discerning international visitors.

The interiors required a natural, timeless, quality environment with material durability, maintenance and longevity at their core. The design was to be a well-crafted backdrop to a colourful local vibe with the ‘strategic’ placement of information & advertising. The simple and open spatial arrangements provide clear sight lines across the Terminal to ensure easy, intuitive wayfinding for the passenger journey and programmable spaces can provide changing activities and events.  

The Airside retail precinct and F&B strategy was to ensure lively and activated spaces permeated the Gate lounges whilst maintaining good sight lines across all retail tenancies towards information displays and Departure Gates.
